Cell Phone Setup for Email:
There are many different phone models and cell phone companies.

This makes it impractical to list all the various processes for smart phone based email.

For iPhone users the steps are as follows. Other smart phones will be similar and the server settings will always be the same.

Open Settings on your iPhone
Open Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Click on Add Account…
Click on the Microsoft Exchange icon
At the Exchange Account popup type in the following information

  • Email – your email address (smithj@mdusd.org)
  • Domain – leave blank
  • Username – your user id (jsmith)
  • Password – your network password (used to log into your computer & webmail)
  • Description – this will automatically be created but you can change it

Click Next
Wait for the Verification process to be completed
A second Exchange account screen asking for server information

  • Server – type in mail.mdusd.org

Click Next

At the prompt click On or Off to the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars options to choose which items to synchronize
Click Done
In Settings, click on Fetch New Data
Push must be On for the server to push data to your phone
Set the Fetch settings for your preference
NOTE:  If you set Fetch to Every 15 or Every 30 minutes the battery life on the iPhone will be substantially less than what you normally experience
Also if you click on the Advanced tab at the bottom, you can set different Fetch settings for each email account you have syncing to your iPhone
Close out of Settings

Go to Mail
At the Accounts page click on the new account to check mail
Your mail should come through with any folders under your Inbox as well.
